The contents and activities on the site are based on the educational program "The Mobile Generation", prepared as an educational-learning program for children and adolescents, and implemented by teachers in middle-school at a number of schools in Israel.

Some of the topics, especially those dealing with physics, are complex, and may be difficult to understand, but we hope all the same that you will not give up…the TNUDA team will be happy to receive your questions and expand the various subjects that interest you.  We will welcome feedback from you.

     Introductory words on mobile phones

  • Over the past few years the mobile phone has become a multi-purpose instrument of communication and information, characterized by rapidly-changing advanced technologies
  • The mobile phone enables wireless communication by electromagnetic radiation in radiofrequency (RF) and micro-wave ranges.
  • The mobile phone user is exposed to this radiation.
  • A number of studies that investigated the health effects of the use of mobile phones have indicated a suspected increase in the risk of developing tumors in the head and neck region, following exposure to the non-ionizing radiation emitted by mobile phones.
  • In view of the widespread use of this technology, and the lack of reliable scientific evidence regarding the health consequences, the need for conducting research and determining a policy for its educated use has been recognized.
  • A number of organizations throughout the world, including the Israeli Ministry of Health, have recommended adopting the 'precautionary principle' as a guide in the use of mobile phones.  All the experts in the field emphasize the importance of adopting the 'precautionary principle', especially for children and adolescents. The main instructions include holding the phone (source of radiation) away from the head and the body during use.
