What are Populations at Risk?

Populations at risk are population groups at a greater risk of developing morbidity following exposure to a risk factor, in comparison with the general population.  These groups are considered to be more 'sensitive' to the relevant risk factor.  Usually, in the health context, these groups include children and adolescents, pregnant women, the elderly, and patients suffering from chronic diseases.
