EHS- Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity

A phenomenon whereby individuals report a number of symptoms which they claim are due to exposure to various man-made sources of electromagnetic radiation. According to current scientific knowledge, no causal relationship between exposure to electromagnetic radiation and the reported symptoms has been established.

English

Electromagnetic Field

A combination of electric and magnetic fields spreading through space in waves with distinct physical characteristics

English

Electric Field

A phenomenon occurring in space where an electric charge exists and in which a difference in electric tension occurs.  In fact, any charged body creates an electric field around itself, that affects (exercises power over) any other charged body in its vicinity.  For example: If an object is charged by a static electric charger, it will attract hair, dust, floating particles, etc.  The electric field is measured in units of volts per meter (V/m).

English

Dosimetry

Assessment of the amount of electromagnetic field absorbed by the body of a human or other animal (or any live component, such as an organ, tissue, cell, etc.), expressed in clearly measurable effects. The amount may be determined by measurement or calculation of the internal electric field intensity, the density of the induced current, the level of density and intensity absorbed by the body, such as by induced currents, heating of tissues, etc.

English

Dermatology

A branch of medicine dealing with skin disorders.

English

Deoxyribonucleic Acid- DNA

A macromolecule responsible for the development and function of living cells and constitutes the genetic material. This large molecule, found in the body cells of all living organisms, is composed of building-blocks named nucleic acids, and consists of two strands coiled around each other, forming a double helix.

English

Current Density

The amount of particles of matter or energy (photons) passing through a unit of area. The density of an electric current refers to the size of the electric charge passing through a unit of area per unit of time.Current density is measured in amperes/m2.

English

Correlation

A statistical measure that describes the relationship between two variables, i.e. to what extent a change in one variable will cause a change in the second one.

English

Chromosome

A structure carrying the genetic material, composed of DNA molecules and proteins that fold it into a three-dimensional structure.

English

Cellular Phone

A wireless portable telephone containing a transmitter and receiver that emit and receive radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic radiation.
