On 11/2019, report of a working group set up by the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Energy Transport and Communications (DETEC) was published to analyze the needs and risks associated with establishing cellular networks and formulating recommendations. The group included various parties concerned -suppliers, doctors, representatives of cities, industry, and federal offices.

To protect the population from non-ionizing radiation from antennas, the Federal Council has set two levels of radiation protection limitations:

USA

USA - National Toxicology Program, NTP

Implementation of the 5G will use the same frequencies that are already existing and explored by the NTP. In addition, higher frequencies will also be used - thereby exposing a user of the wireless technology to a wider spectrum of frequencies. The higher frequencies, known as the millimeter waves, can transmit tremendous quantities of information, but cannot penetrate the skin as deeply as the waves of the previous generations.

Netherlands

The Netherlands National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) recommends close monitoring the implementation of the 5th generation.

Germany

The Federal Agency of Radiation Protection recommends careful implementation of the 5G. It will continue to investigate the possible effects of the new frequency range.

In the first phase of the implementation, the frequencies to be used will be those already existing in cellular communication. In a few years 5G will lead to the use of higher frequencies, but the effect of this has not yet been studied. The effect of radio radiation on humans has been well studied, with no health implications under exposure limits.

Ireland

Is there any health risk?

Health implications of non-ionizing radiation exposure below ICNIRP exposure limitations have not been proven. Therefore, no health implications are expected from the use of the 5th generation.

Canada

The limitations existing in Canada also cover the range of frequencies used in the 5th generation.

The 5G devices will have to meet exposure limitations before they can be sold in Canada.

Australia

Is there any health risk?

New Zealand

Is there any health risk?

In New Zealand 5G network has already been launched in limited locations with further rollout planned. Most of the currently available devices lack 5G capability. Therefore, the potential exposure will be low until consumers purchase 5G phones. New Zealand complies with international guidelines and exposure limitations (based on the ICNIRP guidelines).

The 5th generation (5G): Attitude of organizations and states worldwide towards the health risk

The next generation of cellular communications, the fifth generation (5G), has been set by many countries, including Israel, as a destination for advancing and implementing technology. The 5G technology has numerous advantages; on the other hand, it raises concern about the health implications of using this technology. This concern is caused, among other things, by use of frequencies higher than those currently used (the millimeter wave range) and by increase in overall radio frequency exposure.
