Research on Experimental Animal Models (In Vivo)

In vivo research is conducted on the whole animal.  Over the years a variety of experimental animal models, such as yeasts, zebra fish, nematodes and fruit flies (Drosophila) were developed for research, on which a wealth of information has accumulated. Research on mammals is generally conducted on rat and mouse models, and to a lesser degree on pigs and monkeys.

Britain Launches a Large Study on Cognitive Effects of the Use of Mobile Phones by Adolescnts

The British Ministry of Health commissioned a study named SCAMP (The Study of Cognition, Adolescents and Mobile Phones) to determine whether mobile phones affect cognitive and behavioral development of adolescents. The study population will comprise about 2500 schoolchildren aged 11-12.  It is estimated that most children of that age in Britain own mobile phones.  Over a period of three years the researchers will collect data on how the adolescents use the phones and the amount of use.  At the end of this period they will assess the effect of the use of mobile phones on the cognitive functions (such as memory and attention) of the adolescents.

Launching of the GERoNiMO Study on Health Effects of Electromagnetic Fields

New international study was launched in January 2014, to investigate the potential effects of exposure to electromagnetic fields on the risks of developing cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, behavioral changes, and its impact on reproductive outcomes and aging.  The study will last five years.

GERoNiMO  - Generalized EMF Research using Novel Methods –

Over the past few decades we have witnessed a dramatic increase in the spread of electromagnetic fields throughout the world, alongside growing concern both among experts and the general public regarding the potential health effects of exposure to these fields. Despite the research being conducted on this subject, opinions are still divided as to the health impact of electromagnetic fields.

Consequently, the aim of this new study is to broaden knowledge on the health effects of exposure to electromagnetic fields, and to propose means of reducing this exposure.
